Mission

Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service formally known as Vehicle Inspection Unit was established on 2nd August 2012, by the former Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola. The Vehicle inspection. Service is one of the enforcement agencies the State Government responsible for the implementing the
compliance on Road Traffic Law 2021; it is saddled with the duties of ensuring compliance with all stipulated/required vehicle policies such as Road Worthiness, Vehicle License, Hackney Permit, Testing and Training of applicants for driver’s license/ rider card and sometime compliment the duties of other Transport Agencie

Akin – George Fashola

Director, Vehicle Inspection Service

Akin – George Fashola, a native of Lagos Island division was born on 1st of March, 1969. He obtained a double Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Vehicle/Industrial Design from the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois USA in 1995. He holds a Msc in Automotive Engineering Design obtained in 1998 from Coventry University, England.
He has over 20 years of diverse service experience which he acquired from working in various internationally renowned conglomerates such as IBM UK, Ford HQ in Dear Michigan USA, Jaguar Cars in Uk and Honda UK serving in various roles from Design Engineer to Project Manager.
Engr. Akin – George Fashola joined Lagos State Civil Service in January, 2014 and has served in the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Works & Infrastructure before he was redeployed to the Directorate of Vehicle Inspection Service, Ministry of Transportation in 2017 where he acted as the Divisional Head, Drivers Training and Testing till he was appointed the Head of the Directorate in August 2019.
Akin – George Fashola is a registered member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
